Wahkiakum County is a small county located on the western coast of Washington just below Pierce County. With only 474 square miles of land area- split between the mainland and several islands off the coast-it houses about 3,800 residents who share their communities with elk herds that migrate through every year. Visitors come here for its array of outdoor activities such as kayaking and fishing on rivers or near the Pacific Ocean beaches where eagles soar above; golfing at local courses; wildlife watching; or simply touring cranberry farms or visiting oyster beds.
