About San Juan County, WA
San Juan County is a small but beautiful island county in northwest Washington which comprises over 170 smaller islands making it one of America's most diverse archipelagos. The main islands are Orcas Island (the largest), Lopez Island, Shaw Island, San Juan Island and Decatur Island which are connected by ferry service from Anacortes. There are also hundreds more smaller uninhabited islands within the archipelago making up San Juan Islands National Monument which offer some stunning scenery for visitors who take advantage of kayaking trips or boat tours around the area. The main industries here are tourism and fishing while there is also manufacturing businesses that make use of this remote location's natural resources. As per 2020 estimates its population was 17 973 people.
