Simpson County, KY has a population of around 17,000 people and is situated in south-central Kentucky near the Tennessee state line. Most communities in this area are rural with a strong dependence on tobacco farming as the primary source of income though some are involved in woodworking or related activities such as lumbering. The county seat is Franklin which features an annual Music Festival each June as well as a number of other outdoor attractions such as Fort Thomas Military Park.
